Guinness2 Read Me This describes what is on the Guinness2 CD and gives usage tips. Quick Start: 1. Start Windows. 2. Select Run from the Program Manager's File Menu. 3. Type D:\INSTALL in the Command Line box (if your CD-ROM drive is a different letter use that letter instead), and click "OK." 4. Double click on the TextWare Guinness Encyclopedia. Perform searches by pressing the Space Bar to open the search dialog, enter your search word(s) and clicking "OK." 5. Upon a successful search a Hit List is shown. Choose an item from the Hit List by scrolling up and down through the Hit List with your arrow keys, highlighting a hit and pressing Enter/Return. or Double click on the Countries of the World icon. Click on a country name on the globe, or scroll though the country list and click on a country name, or click on the Search Countries button and type the name of the country to access the country you are interested in. Help is available by clicking the Help button. Note: The countries of the World data is also included in the TextWare Guinness Encyclopedia. What's here? 1. The Guinness Encyclopedia text indexed in TextWare for high speed search and retrieval. This does not have a graphic user interface, rather it is a text-based search engine. This is a very powerful research tool with keyword, Boolean, phrase and proximity searching available. To use: a. Double click on the TextWare Guinness Encyclopedia. b. Perform searches by pressing the space bar to open the search dialog, enter your search word(s), and press Enter/Return. c. Upon a successful search a Hit List is shown. Choose an item from the Hit List by scrolling up and down through the Hit List with your arrow keys, highlighting a hit and pressing Enter/Return. 2. Countries of the World. Data on 192 different countries including population, religion, government and land area. To use: a. Double click on the Countries of the World icon. b. Click on a country name on the globe, or scroll though the country list and click on a country name, or click on the Search Countries button and type the name of the country to access the country you are interested in. Help is available by clicking the Help button. Note: The countries of the World data is also included in the TextWare Guinness Encyclopedia. 3. NASA photos. There are 49 NASA photos that my be used as clip art or simply for your viewing pleasure. These photos are screen resolution and are available in PICT, TIFF and BMP formats. The document NASA Photo Descriptions gives the photo names and descriptions of the photos. The images may be previewed by running the QuickTime movie PREVIEWS.MOV in the NASA\VIDEOS directory. 4. NASA videos. Videos in QuickTime format ranging from Earth views from the Space Shuttle to computer generated animations of the landscape on Miranda. The document NASA Video Descriptions gives the names of the videos and their descriptions. To launch double click on the NASA Info icon, this will launch MoviePlayer and open the first NASA video. To open other movies select Open from the File menu and choose the movie of your choice (e.g. D:\NASA\VIDEOS\PREVIEWS.MOV). 5. QuickTime 2.01 for Windows installer. QuickTime 2.0 or later is required for this software. We have included the QuickTime for Windows 2.01 installer for your use. If you have QuickTime for Windows 2.01 or later you do not need to install it again. Please read the file QuickTime for Windows 2.01 installer before attempting to use this installer.
